(My photo from this morning's hike. 8/8/11. I noticed them as I was trucking along on the trail because of the way the light was falling on them. They looked like teeny tiny trees. I sat down in the middle of the path and took this photo. Maybe they are teeny tiny trees. I don't know, but they sure looked pretty.)
