Update on Book/Documentary Idea Unfolding....

I've been in communication with this really inspiring environmentalist in Sri Lanka lately. He is excited for me to get there and tell the story of the environmental issues the people of Sri Lanka are facing right now. The main issue he's currently working on has to do with arsenic in pesticides. This arsenic is causing chronic kidney failure in the North Central province. Over 50,000 people are suffering from late stage kidney disease! Hemantha is busy setting up workshops with local farmers and educating the community about the health impacts of using these pesticides. When he's not busy with that most immediately pressing issue, he's busy fighting deforestation and destruction of other wildlife areas, and educating the community about water conservation and contamination issues. I'm excited to keep working towards developing this project, so I can get there and volunteer alongside Hemantha and learn more about this environmentalist and his country.
